The Association of Friends of the National Cancer-free Initiative, AFNCI celebrates the New Year with more achievements towards supporting cancer patients and protecting the health of Egyptians

With  the advent of the New Year, at AFNCI, we went over all the  most important accomplishments during the elapsed year thanks to the support of our charity partners. Throughout 2019 we were able to pursue our mission of supporting cancer patients.

Supporting cancer patients at the National Cancer Institute, NCI:

  •  The association pursued its efforts of providing part of the needed medications and chemotherapy to the National Cancer Institute (NCI)
  • AFNCI is still operating the service of a fleet of vehicles to transfer patients and workers between the institute’s branches since 2010.
  • The blood donation affairs department held more blood donation campaigns to support patients of the NCI, Hospital 57357, Cairo and Tanta branches, Cairo University’s hospitals and the Egyptian Red Crescent’s hospitals which resulted in offering free safe blood to cancer patients which contributes to granting them increased chances of recovery, God willing.
  • AFNCI continues to support the NCI by offering it a work team consisting of 92 employees in addition to a security team where the Association is committed to paying their salaries besides sponsoring maintenance of the new out-patient clinics that was established and equipped previously in favor of the institute.
  • Through a contract with a cleaning company, it offers cleaning services for the institute, the out-patient clinics and the one day treatment unit.
  • AFNCI offered the Institute its needs of medical equipment, such as the CT equipment
  • Upgrading the operations rooms, the chemotherapy rooms, the library and the blood bank and equipping the one-day surgery hospital.

Supporting the 57357 group:

Hospital 57357 is the Association’s biggest projects as it built it, equipped it and is still supporting it as a part of its main mission of offering world quality cancer care for free. This is in addition to supporting its future expansion projects. Throughout 2019, AFNCI’s pursued its support to the cost of establishing and equipping a pathology lab in its first stage, establishing and equipping storage area for the Hospital including storage for medications. Meanwhile the Association pursued offering safe free blood to children with cancer and vaccination for healthy children, support awareness initiatives (such as home without cancer along with the Hospital and the Egyptian Cancer Network, ECN-USA) and sponsored educational scholarships such as the clinical pharmacy fellowship program. Also, the cooperation between the Association and Hospital 57357 continues aiming to transfer the Hospital’s leading experience in clinical pharmacy to all of Egypt’s hospitals which started by Ismailia Tumor Hospital and Ahmed Maher educational hospital, to guaranty giving the patient the safe , effective and  accurate treatment dose and to rationalize medications consumption.
